Independence Day is a huge holiday here on Amelia Island, and there are many reasons to head to Fernandina Beach’s historic district on July 4, 2019. Downtown Fernandina Beach offers a Hometown Celebration with plenty of activities planned from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the waterfront parking lots at the foot of Centre Street.
Shop our quaint stores, dine in one of our popular restaurants, or check out one of the food trucks set up for this special event. There will be a Kid’s Zone with vendors, face painting and bounce houses. Best decorated bicycle and pet contests, and there may even be a pie eating contest. The Nassau Community Band will play patriotic music and a special performance of the National Anthem is planned at 8:45, just before the fireworks begin at 9:00 p.m.
Light Up Amelia, who also sponsors our Shrimp Drop on New Year’s Eve, is providing the fireworks. This non-profit was formed a few years ago to help support fireworks in our community.
Other fireworks shows include the Omni Amelia Island at 9:30 p.m., and the Ritz Carlton has fireworks at 9:15.
